Edeltrudis Montealegre Acosta, age 84, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025 at Orange Park Medical Center, Orange Park, FL.
She was born on June 23, 1941 in Santa Cruz, Zambales, Philippines, one of four children born to her late parents, Benedicto Mayor Montealegre and Rosa Pañgilinan Montealegre. She was a proud graduate of the University of Santo Tomas in Manila.
Edeltrudis is survived by two daughters, Bernadette Acosta, and Caroline Acosta Celis and her husband, Noel; two sisters, Myra Montealegre Monsalud and her husband, Jorge, and Terry Montealegre Majan and her husband, Jose; six grandchildren, Albert Don Celis and his wife, Erlyn Ariane; Angelou Jai Celis, Antonio Celis and his wife, Nesly Ann, Karizza Mae Celis Snyder and her husband, John Gabriel, Karen Joy Celis, and Kathleen Celis; three great-grandchildren, Sofia Albert Celis, Daenerys Lycra Celis, and Athaliah Noelle Celis; and a sister-in-law, Ligaya Villabroza Montealegre.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Romeo Acosta; her son, Arnel Acosta; and a brother, Dr. Antonio P. Montealegre.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home – Winter Park Chapel, 3806 Howell Branch Rd, Winter Park, FL 32792.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 11:00 am at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 113 Lockwood Blvd, Oviedo, FL 32765.
Interment will follow the mass at Chuluota Cemetery, Chuluota, FL.
