Edith Olga Grajales Villanueva, a beloved mother, sister, entrepreneur, and dedicated beautician in her early years, passed away on May 20, 2026, in Apopka, Florida. Born on February 14, 1931, in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, Edith lived a life marked by love, resilience, and unwavering commitment to her family and community.

Edith’s journey began in her hometown of Aguadilla, where she was raised by her parents, Tomas Villanueva and Monserrate Bonilla, alongside her siblings Mercedes, Guadalupe, Antonio, Haydee, Tomas Jr., Rosa, Ernesto, and Juan. Her roots and values were deeply intertwined with her large extended family and numerous cousins, who remember her fondly.

In her youth, Edith ventured into the world as an entrepreneur and beautician, displaying her talent and dedication before she embraced the cherished roles of wife and mother. It was in high school that she met her husband, Hector Manuel Grajales LTC, Ret. with whom she shared a loving marriage of 63 years until his passing. She was a proud military wife that accompanied him throughout his service in the US Army. Edith was a woman of strong principles, known for her opinionated stance on what was right and wrong, yet she balanced this with a generous heart and a profound commitment to caring for her friends, family, and those in need.

Edith’s proudest accomplishments were her children, whom she nurtured with great love and devotion. She was also deeply committed to caring for her parents in their later years, reflecting her compassionate nature and sense of duty. She raised her children with a unique blend of cultures, speaking to them in Spanish while encouraging them to respond in English, a testament to her belief in bridging heritage and integration. Memorable family moments include adventurous travels, such as a spontaneous choice of a brand new, notably luxurious car after a roadside breakdown in Alabama with her young children – a story that has become a treasured family anecdote.

In her leisure time, Edith enjoyed playing bingo every Sunday, delighting in scratch-off tickets where she often found fortune, and was fond of playing slot machines, activities that brought her joy and relaxation. Her warmth and care extended beyond her immediate family to her living relatives including her sons Robert Grajales, Hector Hoglin, Nestor Grajales, and Eric Grajales; her grandchildren Alexander, Christina, Ariana, and Amariah; as well as her brother Fernando Villanueva and sister Alicia Munoz.

Edith’s life will be honored at a visitation service held on May 27, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, South Seminole, located at 335 E State Rd 434, Longwood, FL 32750.

Her legacy is one of love, resilience, and dedication — a woman who fiercely protected her values while embracing life’s joys and challenges with open arms. Edith Olga Grajales Villanueva will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege to know her. May her memory be a blessing and her spirit live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
