With profound sadness and overflowing love, we announce the passing of Edith Marfiza Bonifacini Perussi, who departed this life peacefully and surrounded by family on July 28th, 2025, at 12:15 a.m. She was 90 years old.
Born on June 24, 1935, in the countryside of Lanús, Argentina, Edith’s life began with a story as unique and spirited as she was. Her mother, who always dreamed of having twins, waited to give birth to her next daughter, Derliz, until the same calendar day a year later, June 24th, to make it “easier to remember.” Though Edith’s birth certificate later listed her birthday as August, she proudly claimed June 24th as her true birthday and always joked that Derliz was the older sister.
Edith’s journey was marked by dedication, creativity, and deep love. She worked in the Argentine police department for 10 years before becoming an elementary school teacher for 15 years. Later, she taught private English lessons to individuals seeking to become bilingual. After the birth of her only child, Jeanete, Edith embraced her role as a stay-at-home mother with grace and joy. She later teamed up with her sister and first husband, Rolando, to open Your Way Pizza in Wekiva Springs, FL, a beloved family-run restaurant that thrived for eight years.
Edith had a passion for cooking, traveling, fashion, and connection. She traveled frequently, especially to places with warm climates like Hawaii, California, and her beloved Argentina. She never missed a fashion trend, never left the house without lipstick, and surrounded herself with beauty, whether through stylish jewelry, romantic music (particularly from Los Nocheros), or her treasured elephant figurine collection.
She had a sweet tooth and a love for yerba mate and was known for giving generous compliments to everyone she met. A true social butterfly, Edith could light up any room and forge instant bonds with those around her.
One of the most special relationships in Edith’s life was with her older sister, Derliz Marfiza Bonifacini—her best friend and partner in crime. Their shared birthday and lifelong connection were a testament to their mother’s dream and their own inseparable bond.
Edith is survived by her daughter, Jeanete Derliz Perussi Swanson, her son-in-law Gregory David Swanson Sr., and her beloved grandchildren: Gregory Jr., Sabina, Gabriela, and Jonah.
A funeral mass will be held in her honor on Tuesday, August 5th, 2025 at 11 a.m. at Nativity Catholic Church, 3255 N Ronald Reagan Blvd, Longwood, FL 32750.
Following the service, all are welcome to a potluck at the Swanson family home to share memories of Edith. We invite guests to bring a dish she loved, in celebration of the flavors, laughter, and love she brought into every life she touched.
In remembrance of Edith, we celebrate a woman who lived with elegance, warmth, and humor. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she uplifted, and she will be deeply missed and joyfully remembered.
