Eladio Alicea-Cruz, a man remembered for being a joy to be with and cherished by those who knew him, passed away on May 19, 2026, in Orlando, Florida. Born on March 22, 1949, in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, he lived a life marked by dedication, love, and service

Eladio was a very unique individual whose personality shone through his many roles: a doting husband, a laid-back and funny jokester, a hardworking and dedicated family man, and a trustworthy caretaker. Known for his straightforward and sometimes blunt manner, he was always reliable and willing to help others, passing on his knowledge generously and without reservation.

A decorated veteran, Eladio’s military service was a central source of pride. He was honored with numerous distinguished awards, including the Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Army Commendation Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Achievement Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, the National Defense Service Medal, the Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, the Army Service Medal with 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, the Kuwait Liberation Medal, and the Desert Storm Medal. His devotion to his military service exemplified his dedication and steadfastness, reflecting the qualities he carried into every aspect of his life.

Eladio’s proudest accomplishments included his military service, his beloved family, and the pride he took not only in himself but in others as well. He loved watching sports, listening to music, dancing, and traveling extensively during his prime. These hobbies and his special interest in history enriched his life and those around him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Laura Alicea; his children Jeffrey Alicea and his wife Talia, Lynn Jean Alicea, and Richard Alicea; his siblings Wilma I Diaz, Zoraida Alicea, Jose Antonio Alicea, and Neftali Garcia; and his many grandchildren: Darius Eladio Alicea, Elijah Alicea, Autumn Natalia Alicea, Serina Lin Villanueva, Kolden Alexander Van Dusen, Aja Jade Rivera-Alicea, LeLani Andrea Rivera-Alicea, Amber Rose Rivera-Alicea, Rennox Reign Alicea, and Rhidian Sire Alicea.

Eladio was preceded in death by his father, Eladio Alicea; his mother, Andrea Alicea; and his brother, Edmundo Alicea.

Eladio Alicea-Cruz's memory is one of warmth, humor, and unwavering dedication - a shining example of a life earnestly lived. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
