Eugene Charles Bray, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on October 4, 2025, leaving a legacy of love and service that will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him. Born on May 13, 1936, in Philadelphia, PA, Eugene's journey through life was marked by dedication, both to his family and to his country.

Eugene graduated from Long Branch High School in 1954 and then went on to Monmouth College where he earned a degree in Psychology; shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the Air Force, a decision that would shape his future significantly. After spending a year in Korea, he was stationed in Maine where he met the love of his life, Marie Mai Durepos. Their love flourished, and together they built a family and life full of joy. After being discharged in 1957, Eugene took time to nurture his growing family but re-enlisted in 1963, embarking on various assignments across the globe, including Thailand, Guam, and Hawaii. His distinguished military career culminated in retirement as a Major in 1980, adorned with numerous accolades including the Meritorious Service Medal and three Air Force Commendation Medals.

Eugene transitioned into civilian life with equal dedication, moving to Orlando and serving at the post office until his retirement in 1998. Eugene’s zest for life extended well beyond his professional accomplishments. He possessed a deep love for crossword puzzles, enjoyed watching Jeopardy, and savored spirited games of poker and softball, a sport he passionately played until the age of 84. Travel was a shared delight for Eugene and Marie as they explored the world together during their retirement years, creating cherished memories at every port of call.

His warm spirit and sense of humor will be profoundly missed by his loving family. Eugene is survived by his daughters, Nancy Boling, Judy Roskowski, and Charlotte Whitaker, along with his son-in-law Bill Whitaker. He took immense pride in his grandchildren: Aaron Hoover (Tara), Billy Whitaker (Emily), Jordan Farmer, Kyle Whitaker (Rachael), Tyler Whitaker, Brandon Roskowski, and Halie Long (Brian), as well as his two great-grandsons and seven great-granddaughters who brought him endless joy and laughter.

Eugene is preceded in death by his beloved wife Marie, as well as his cherished parents, Eugene David Bray and Eunice Charlene Miller. His legacy of love, service, and commitment to family will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. Though we mourn his passing, we celebrate his remarkable life and the profound impact he had on all who knew him.
