Frank James Spence, known as simply James to family and friends died unexpectedly on November 28th at home at the age of 72.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Valerie D. Spence of Orlando, FL; his brother, Charles Spence (Cathy) of Huntington, WV; his daughter, Echo N. Goodner (Sean) of Oviedo, FL; his son, Tracer R. Spence of Orlando, FL and four granddaughters- Madison, Grace, River and Saoirse of Oviedo, FL. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
He was proceed in death by his mother, Margaret E. Moon Spence; his father, Frank Spence; his sister, Mary Spence Booth and his brother, Philip Spence.
James was born on February 6, 1952 in Wayne, West Virginia. He grew up in Huntington, West Virginia where he attended Vinson High School in 1970 before attended Marshall University.
He started in the Airline Industry in 1981 with Piedmont Airways as a ramp agent and worked him way up to a customer service supervisor position. He retired from American Airlines in 2021. His career took him from Huntington, West Virginia to Canton, Michigan, to Tallahassee, Florida and finally to Orlando, FL.
James enjoyed music, especially the keyboard and guitar. His airline career allowed him and his wife to travel to many places including Australia, China, several places in Europe and throughout the United States. A highlight of his life was scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife and the “Bears” to Jamaica and Mexico.
Cremation arrangements by Newcomer Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held in February.
