Floyd H. Hayes Jr. passed away peacefully at his home with the love of his family by his side. Born in Suffolk, Virginia, the son of Floyd and Doris Hayes. He grew up in Suffolk, where he developed lifelong friends and was a member of the Masonic lodge with his dad.
While serving in the US Air Force during the Korean War his duty station was in Japan. If asked about his service, he would always answer by saying, "Those were the some of the best years of my life!"
Floyd valued his professional relationship with all the friends he made during his career with Baldwin and Gregg, Hayes and Associates, Cavalier Ford, Star Motors and other business ventures.
Floyd lived a life defined by his love for his family and friends. He was a true gentleman whose life was marked by compassion, strength, and deep dedication to those he loved.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Patricia Sawyer Hayes, his children Cynthia Degner (Donald), Brian B Hayes (Nickie), Jason T. Hayes, Charles M Hayes (Holly), George Shoemaker (Anne), and "The Apple of my eye" granddaughter, Katherine Degner, along with grandchildren and extended family.
As he rests in peace, his words give us great comfort as he would always say, "God has a plan."
A military graveside funeral will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suffolk, Virginia, date to be announced.
