Frederick Peter Van Houten, 83, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2026, in Longwood, Florida after an extended illness.

Born on June 1, 1943, in Paterson, New Jersey, Fred was the son of Frederick and Helen (Blasco) Van Houten. He lived a life defined by honor, devotion to family, and unwavering love for his country.

Fred proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Captain and serving during the Vietnam War. A true patriot, he exemplified courage, leadership, and selfless service.

Following his military service, Fred built a distinguished professional career marked by intelligence, integrity, and craftsmanship. As a Certified Public Accountant, he earned the trust and respect of his colleagues through his expertise, honesty, and unwavering ethical standards. Later, he pursued his passion for creating beautiful homes as a custom home builder. Whether balancing financial ledgers or overseeing the construction of a family’s dream home, Fred approached every endeavor with meticulous attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to excellence.

Above all, Fred was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan (Guard) Van Houten; his daughters, Suzanne Ceballos and her husband, Hector, and Lesley Allison; his son, Frederick F. Van Houten and his wife, Holly (Brackett) Van Houten; and his eight cherished grandchildren: Elizabeth, Peyton, and Liam McCown; Emily, Hanna, and James Allison; and Sophie and Ansley Van Houten.

Fred will be remembered for his strength of character, steadfast loyalty, quiet generosity, and deep love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, service, and compassion that will continue to inspire all who knew and loved him.

Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
