Frederick Max Williams (Fred), age 81, passed away Saturday May 9, 2026 at his home in Geneva, Florida. Fred was born in Abilene, Texas on November 10, 1944 to Blanche N. Strong and Max Williams.
Fred graduated from Monteray High School in Lubbock, Texas and joined the Navy in 1963. He was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia and served as a Fire Control Technician. After serving in the Navy Fred moved to Phoenix, Arizona and pursued a career in all aspects of construction. Fred lived for a brief time in New Mexico building homes but returned to Phoenix. While living in Phoenix he met his wife, Sarah Williams and both his children were born in Mesa, AZ. They eventually settled in Geneva, Florida and he started his own handyman business in 1990 and worked until he retired in 2021.
Over the years, Fred built a life centered on family, faith, work, service and community. Fred served faithfully at First Baptist of Geneva as a deacon, a teacher, worked in Bible Club and Awana, house and grounds and was a part of many committees. His passion was praying for others and this is what he became known for.
Fred is survived by his wife, Sarah Williams of Geneva, FL; son Gary Williams of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren Isaac Williams-Alfonzo and Adelynn Moser of Orlando, FL; sister Connie Goza of Abilene, TX; Father-in-law Glenn Lieving of Sterling Hts., MI; Sisters and Brother-in-law Barbara and Todd Bryden of Germany, Carol Lieving of Waterford Township, MI; niece and nephews Rita Bryden of Germany, Hugh Bryden of Germany and Jeff Goza of Abilene, TX.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents Blanche N. Strong and Max Williams; son Eric A. Williams; Grandparents; Mother-in-Law Ann B. Lieving; Brother-in-Laws Larry Goza and Charles Lieving; great nephew Zachary Goza of Abilene, TX.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place at First Baptist Geneva on May 16, 2026. Visitation is at 10 a.m. and a service to follow at 11:00 a.m. After the service there will be a brief ceremony at Geneva Cemetery followed by a meal in the Fellowship Hall at Geneva Baptist.
