Gary Robert Rodriguez

Gary Robert Rodriguez, born January 22, 1951, in Tampa, Florida, passed away on August 15, 2026, in Winter Park, Florida. Gary’s departure brings great sorrow to his loving family and the many others whose lives he touched over the years.

Gary’s life began in Tampa, a city that always held a special place in his heart. He was a proud alumnus of Plant High School, and continued his education with two years at Hillsborough Community College. His formative years in Tampa shaped much of who he became—creative, spirited, and deeply connected to those around him.

A man of remarkable talent, Gary found his professional calling in visual merchandising, working for prestigious retail stores such as Dillard’s and Nordstrom. His creative vision and dedication set him apart in his field, and he was honored with awards recognizing his excellence. Gary delighted in the art of making spaces beautiful and engaging, transforming everyday experiences for countless shoppers.

Gary’s creative spirit was matched by his passion for storytelling and fond recollections. He cherished memories of surfing at Cocoa Beach, attending concerts, and sharing stories of his childhood, especially those involving his beloved younger brother. His gift for weaving memories into heartfelt narratives brought joy and laughter to his family and friends.

Family was central to Gary’s life. He met his wife and built his family in Tampa, growing deep roots in the community that meant so much to him. Even after moving away, Tampa remained close to his heart, and he often expressed how much he missed the place where so many important chapters of his life unfolded.

Gary was steadfast in his faith as a devout fundamentalist Christian and was an active member of the Pentecostal Church throughout his adult life. His faith guided his actions, relationships, and sense of purpose, touching every aspect of his journey.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Cheryl Dayton, his cherished daughter, Rebecca Robinson, and his loving brother, David Rodriguez. They will carry forward his memory with deep affection and gratitude. Gary was preceded in death by his mother, Geni Rodriguez, his father, Fermin Rodriguez, and his stepmother, Laura Rodriguez, all of whom continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew them.

Gary Robert Rodrigues will be fondly remembered for his creativity, his devotion to family and faith, and the countless memories he made and shared. His presence will be greatly missed by all who were privileged to know him.
