On Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the age of 84, after battling several health issues for years, a trumpet sounded, heaven opened, and the spirit of Gerald "Jerry" Osterberg left his earthly body to be in the arms of his Heavenly Father.
He was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan and grew up in Kissimmee, Florida. Jerry was a Christian. Jerry had the distinct honor of earning and becoming an Eagle Scout. He served in Boy Scouts of America as a scoutmaster and a district commissioner. He was an accomplished trumpet player and he sat first chair in the Osceola High School Band and served as the student conductor for many years. He graduated from Osceola High School in 1959. He continued playing the trumpet in the Florida State Marching Chiefs Band. He coached and umpired Little League and Big League Baseball and went as far as Southern Regional as a Little League umpire.
He retired from the City of Orlando as the Chief Plumbing and Gas Inspector with over 25 years of service. Prior to that his dad and he owned Osterberg Plumbing. He was a Mason and a Shriner.
He is predeceased by his parents, Virginia and Stanley Osterberg and his daughter, Jane Osterberg.
He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 64 years, Pansy Bronson Osterberg; his daughter, Sonia Scheinholtz; his son and daughter in-law, Alison and Gerald Osterberg, Jr; grandsons, Joshua Keith and Zachary Scheinholtz; granddaughters, Elizabeth Hall; Samantha Yops and grandson-in-law, Chris Yops; and granddaughter, Linley Osterberg; great granddaughter, Natalie Yops and great grandson Markus Yops, and God great grandchildren, Nicco Kelley and Topaz Deines; cousins, Stan and Sherry Lepird; and Mary Bellisle.
