Gertrude "Trudy" McCornick

Gertrude “Trudy” McCornick, age 84, of Casselberry, FL, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 1, 2026. Trudy is survived by her husband Brian McCornick, sons Brian “Rick” McCornick (Donna Melissa) and Kevin McCornick (Melissa Delaine), daughter Angela Giddens (Brian), granddaughters Brittany Worth (James) and Heather Todd (Joshua), grandsons David Giddens, Karson McCornick, and Thomas Giddens, great-granddaughter Arabella Worth, and sister Sonya Carroll. Trudy is reunited in heaven with her parents Thornton and Marie Mills, her son James McCornick, her brother Billy, and sisters Emma Lou Tedder and Darlene Perryman.

Trudy was a 1959 graduate of Lake Weir High School and a 1964 graduate of University of Florida. She met the love of her life, Brian in Orlando in 1965, and they were married soon after. They enjoyed 61 wonder years together, travelling the world during his time in the Air Force. They lived in Germany, Denver, New Mexico, and the Florida panhandle before finally returning to the Orlando area. Trudy held a number of occupations, always contributing to her workplace with a tireless work ethic and non-stop effort. Trudy loved the outdoors, especially the beach, and she loved Gators football. But her greatest joy was in spending time with her children and grandchildren. While Trudy was educated in Biology, she found the most satisfaction in raising and instructing her 4 children, all of whom graduated from the University of Florida.

Trudy was a long-time servant of Christ and held many positions in local church bodies, where she was quick to contribute with her keen financial instincts and discipline. She believed in sharing her faith and loving Jesus, and wanted all she met to know Jesus.

The family of Trudy McCornick will receive friends on Saturday, August 8, 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Winter Park Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Crum Cemetery in Summerfield, Florida.
