Glen Eugene Betchan, aged 72, of Winter Park, FL, went home to be with the Lord on August 10, 2025. Born on July 20, 1953, in Mineral Wells, TX, he was the son of Albert and Janet Betchan.

Glen dedicated his life to serving his country and community with unwavering commitment. He proudly served his country as a sergeant with the military police in the United States Army from 1973 to 1983, demonstrating courage, dedication, and loyalty. While in the military, some of his awards and ribbons were as follows: National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Marksman Qualification Badge, Expert Qualification Badge, Army service ribbon, NCO professional development ribbon, and overseas service ribbon.

After his military service, Glen became a Deputy Sheriff for the Jessup Georgia Sheriff’s Department. He then moved on to become a police officer with the Altamonte Police Department and K9 Unit, where he diligently worked with his K9 partner Kai. After his time with the K9 Unit he transitioned and continued his career with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, becoming a Master Deputy. Glen worked over a combined total of 41 years for these departments. He was recognized for his positive traits and had a significant impact on those he worked with and served. While working for the departments he was awarded the Sheriff’s Citation Medal, the Meritorious Service award, and the Lifetime Achievement award.

During his retirement, Glen continued his service to the community while attending Aloma Baptist Church as a Deacon and head of security. He always enjoyed time with his family and occasionally being able to slip away on his boat.

Glen was preceded in death by his wife, Pattie Betchan, his father, Albert Betchan. He is survived by his mom, Janet Betchan, fiancé, Debbie Grise, children, Rodney Betchan (wife - Jami), Michelle Fulp (husband – Shann), stepchildren, Cheryl Havrilesko (husband – Frank), Kenny Sumal (wife – Lisa), grandchildren, Emma, Lilliana, Alyssa, Kyle, Cory, Cole, Kirstin, Olivia, and Julia and his brothers, Lee Betchan (wife – Ann), and Bill Betchan (partner – Janel). His dedication and love will forever be remembered by his family and friends.
