Gregory Roe

August 15, 1949 — June 3, 2025

Clearwater

Gregory Roe, born on August 15, 1949, in Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2025, in Clearwater, Florida, after a long and courageous battle with cancer that spanned over 25 years. He faced this enduring challenge with remarkable strength and a positive outlook, exhibiting the fighting spirit that characterized his life.

A dedicated family man, Gregory married the love of his life, Beverly Eaton, on April 20, 1967. Their union, which lasted an impressive 58 years, was a testament to their love and commitment to one another. Together, they created a warm and loving home, filled with laughter and cherished memories, such as annual family vacations to Pompano Beach, where they gathered as a family to celebrate life.

Gregory's career began in plumbing, as he became the proud owner of Papa Roe's Plumbing. His expertise in the field led him to serve Orange County as a building and plumbing inspector, a role he embraced until his retirement in 2016. Those who knew him recognized his strong work ethic and dedication, qualities that he brought to every task he undertook.

He attended Arsenal Technical High School, Class of 1967, and carried with him a deep sense of humor and kindness that touched everyone he encountered. As a talented softball coach, he inspired many young athletes to appreciate the game and strive for excellence. In addition to his professional achievements, he was known for his hobbies, which included skiing in his younger years and enjoying visits to the casino for some fun and games at the slots. Gregory had a passion for travel, exploring destinations like Hawaii, the Mediterranean, Alaska, Tennessee, Washington D.C., and frequently returning to his roots in Indiana to be with family.

Gregory was blessed with a large and loving family. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Beverly Roe; son Jeffrey A. Roe and his wife, Lorraine; daughter Michelle Talbert and her husband, Scott; daughter Jennifer Roe-Kneer and her husband, Chris; and son Kyle Roe and his wife, Rochelle. He was a proud grandfather to Clay Roe and his wife, Julia; Keriann Jones and her husband, Nate; Camden Roe and his wife, Natalie; Gavin Roe; Hayden Talbert; Erica Lonergan and her husband, Joshua; Isabell Kneer; and Lisa Kneer. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, including Harrison Roe, Kirra Smithwick, Noah Kneer, Journey Kneer, Nevaeh Neal, and Olivia Neal. He is also survived by his brother Earl Roe and sister Jeanmarie Reynolds and her husband, Ron, who fondly remember him.

Gregory was preceded in death by his parents, Masil Roe and Marcia Jean (Ridlen), and his brother, Richard Roe.
