Harriet Ludwin, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2025, in Orlando, FL, at the age of 90. Born on July 28, 1935, in New York, NY, Harriett was a cherished member of her family and a positive force in the lives of all who knew her. She is remembered for her warmth, dedication, and strong family values.
Harriet graduated from Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, NY, and embarked on a diverse career that included working for Newsday in Long Island, NY, for 15 years as well as serving as a sales representative for various businesses. However, her most important role in life was that of a devoted caregiver to her family, showcasing her prioritization of family above all else.
Throughout her life, Harriet created many unforgettable memories with her loved ones, enjoying family vacations to Disney World and spending summers in Lake George, NY. Her love for adventure also extended to trips to the lighthouse in Montauk Point, Long Island. Known for her engaging personality, she brought joy to her family gatherings with her fun, loving, and protective nature. Harriet was an inspiration, encouraging those around her while embodying strength and positivity.
In the 1990s, Harriet had the honor of participating in a Summer Olympics presentation in Hershey, PA, where she met numerous athletes, an experience that exemplified her supportive spirit and enthusiasm for life.
Harriet is survived by her son, Jeffrey Ludwin, and daughter-in-law, Susan Ludwin; her son, Bruce Ludwin, and daughter-in-law, Laurie Ludwin; her daughter, Michele Matteini, and her husband, Russell Matteini. She was a proud grandmother to Sierra Matteini, Jamie Nash (Brian Nash), Bryan Ludwin (Melanie Tolchin), Jason Ludwin (Jessica Ludwin), Joshua Ludwin, and Ronnie Ludwin. Additionally, she will be lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren: Max, River, Rachael, and Olivia. Harriett is also survived by her sister, Diane Epstein.
She was predeceased by her husband, Philip Ludwin, whose memory remains dear to her family.
A graveside service will be held in her honor on September 11, 2025, at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery in Mims, FL, where family and friends will gather to pay their respects and celebrate her life.
Harriet Ludwin will be profoundly missed, yet her legacy of love and family will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
