Hubert Neil Hester

Hubert Neil Hester passed away on October 7, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on May 21, 1933, Hubert lived a long life marked by steady service, deep faith, and devotion to the people and institutions he loved.

Hubert served in the U.S. Army, and throughout his life he carried himself with the sense of duty and commitment that defined so much of his character. He worked for the Orange County Property Appraiser's office for 46 years, remaining there until his retirement in 1999. His long career reflected his reliability, perseverance, and dedication to his community.

Faith was a guiding force in Hubert’s life. He was dedicated to Delaney Street Baptist Church for more than 60 years and served as a deacon there for many years. His church was an important part of his life, and his years of service stood as a reflection of his convictions and his willingness to care for others.

Hubert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Joan Hester, as well as by his father, Houston Hester, and his mother, Nellie Hester.

He is survived by his sons, Jay and Ted; his daughter-in-law, Vonda; his grandchild, Amanda; his cousin, Judy; his nieces and nephews; and several dear friends he considers family. May their memories of Hubert bring comfort and peace in the days ahead, and may his life of faith, service, and devotion continue to be remembered with gratitude.
