Ivy Chandrawattie Ogle was born in Skeldon, Corentyne, Guyana, on December 16, 1931. As the eldest of 11 children, Ivy exemplified a life rooted in grace and service. Devoting her career to caring for others, she began as a Midwife and later became a Registered Nurse, a role she held with compassion and dedication until her retirement. Throughout her life, she gave generously of her heart, her wisdom, and her time, always placing the needs of others before her own. She was deeply cherished by all who knew her, her kindness leaving a lasting impression on countless lives. She entered eternal rest on May 20, 2025, at peace and surrounded by her loved ones.
Ivy’s life was a radiant testament to the enduring power of love, the quiet strength of compassion, the beauty of selflessness, and the timeless elegance of style and grace. Whether through comforting words, thoughtful gestures, or simply being present with those she loved, her joy, humor, and love were constant reflections of her remarkable character. Her unwavering devotion to family and her ability to uplift everyone around her will remain an inspiration to all who had the blessing of knowing her.
Ivy was the guiding light of our family — a beloved mother, a treasured grandmother and great-grandmother, and a dear sister and aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She is survived by her children: Tessa, Andrea, Samuel, Adrian, William, and Nigel; her daughters-in-law: Katherine and Michelle; her grandchildren: Kayo, Femi, Vanessa, Adreena, Deuayne, Kevin, Ashley, Christopher, Christian, Nickolas, Alexander, Jason, Adriana, Cameron, and Alyssa; and her precious great-grandchildren: Ethan and Drew. She is reunited in heaven with her husband, William; her parents Jagan and Ramdaya; and her siblings: Shirley, Shamwattie, Eunice, Sarojini, Ramnarace, Kumar, Sato, and Buddy.
A celebration of Ivy’s life will be held on Saturday, June 7th at 11am at Newcomer Funeral Home. The family kindly requests that, in true celebration of her life and spirit, guests wear bright colors to reflect the joy and vibrancy she brought to our lives.
Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in the promise of resurrection and eternal life. Ivy now rests in the arms of the Savior, and we are comforted by the words of Psalm 116:15:
"Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his faithful servants."
