Jacqueline Marie Richards (nee Douglas) was born to James and Shirley Douglas in Spanish Town Jamaica on June 10, 1953. She was affectionately called “Peaches” or “Jackie” by family and friends.
She attended St. Jago High School and took courses at the Jamaica School of Business and went on to work at the Jamaica Telephone Company for several years. She later migrated to the United States, where she resided in Miami Florida, North Carolina, Huntsville Alabama and finally in Central Florida.
Having been diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis at an early age, most of her life was challenging because of her illness. Throughout all of this, she remained faithful and upbeat and relied on her faith in God to get her through the difficult times.
As a Seventh Day Adventist believer, her strength, faith, and fortitude were admirable. She was resilient and stayed active in her church. She attended Mt. Calvary SDA Church in Huntsville, and upon relocating to Central Florida, attended Mars Hill and Altamonte Springs SDA Church.
Jacqueline was a constant fixture in her red power chair, refusing to accept limitations and striving to be as independent as possible. Her indomitable spirit was unparalleled, sustaining her long after others might have given up.
Jacqueline is survived by her mother, Shirley Douglas, Sisters, Marcia and Joan, Brother, Colin,
Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.
Rest in Peace, dear Peaches. Suffer no more.
