Today, at 1:20 PM, my world changed forever.

My father, JIm Richesin was born on July 31, 1963, and today he took his final breath. I had the honor and the heartbreak of being right beside him as he passed. Holding his hand and being with him in those final moments is something I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

My dad was loved by so many people. He leaves behind his devoted wire, Jackie Pitts Richesin, his children, seven grandchildren, his brothers and sisters, extended family, and countless friends whose lives were made better simply because they knew him. He leaves behind a hole in our hearts that can never truly be filled. But if there's one thing I know without a doubt, it's that he would never want us to stay consumed by sadness. He spent so much of his life fighting through pain, and today, that pain is gone. He is finally at peace.

This past week has become one of the greatest gifts I'll ever receive. We laughed together, shared stories, and simply enjoyed being in each other's presence. Just the other day, we sat side by side with our feet touching, watching old game shows like we had all the time in the world. We even joked about sneaking him some chewing tobacco because we both knew how much he missed it, although we never did. Looking back now, it's amazing how the simplest conversations and quietest moments become the memories you treasure most. Those moments are now memories I'll carry in my heart forever.

He got to see his grandchildren, and he made sure every one of them knew exactly how much he loved them. Hearing him tell us he loved us over and over again is something I will never forget. Those words will stay with us for the rest of our lives.

There is something deeply meaningful that happened today. My father was beside his own father when he took his last breath years ago. Today, I stood beside my dad as he took his. That thought brings me comfort. I believe my grandfather was there to welcome him home and now the two of them are together again, watching over all of us with smiles on their faces.

Dad, your work here is done. You taught us what hard work looks like. You taught us resilience, loyalty, and the importance of family. Your legacy isn't measured by the things you owned, but by the lives you touched, the family you built, and the love you gave us so freely.

Thank you for every lesson, every sacrifice, every laugh, every hug, and every memory. Thank you for being my father.
