James Skutka

James Frances Skutka, better known as Jim, met his savior on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Jim was 86 years old and died peacefully at home surrounded by family. Jim was born in Dover, NJ and grew up in the Hibernia section of Rockaway Twp. Jim followed in his father’s footsteps and dedicated his life serving as a fireman for more than 50 years! He served with the NJ Forest Fire Service, the Rockaway Township Fire Department Company #1 in Hibernia with the last being the Green Pond Volunteer Fire Department where he left his heart. He served as the Engineer, Lieutenant, Captain and his favorite, Chief. In addition, Jim served on the Green Pond First Aid Squad for many years. He loved his community! For a career, Jim chose becoming a union electrician and served the IBEW 102 for over 50 years with the same dedication.

Jim led the Stockade Program for Green Pond Bible Chapel for many years influencing the youth for Christ. He had a passion to see the young boys become men who loved the Lord and served him and their families. The Pinewood Derbies were classic!

Jim is survived by his wife, Clare, his daughter Chrissy(Mark), sons Jim (Patti), Sean (Barb), and Doug (Amber). He was a proud Stepfather to Todd (Danielle) and Janet (Rob). He loved being a grandfather, had 16 grandchildren, Autumn (Tripp), Dakota (Ashley), Bryan (Katlyn), Dalton, Kaylea, Ariel (Matt), Alex (Ema), Autumn (Sawyer), Gabe, Grace, Lea, Nathaniel, Scarlett, Audrey, Sami and Abby and 6 great grandchildren.

There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at his Florida home, 11337 Great Commission Way, Orlando, FL 32832,at 2 PM. There will also be a celebration of life in NJ on July 2, 2027. More details to follow.
