Janice Virginia (Jones) Place May 29, 1955 – October 24, 2025
Janice Virginia Place, beloved mother, wife, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, at AdventHealth Hospice in Altamonte Springs, Florida, at the age of 70. She was born on May 29, 1955, in Orlando, Florida, and spent her life in Sanford, Florida, surrounded by family, friends, and the animals she adored.
Janice will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit. She had a deep love for all living creatures, especially eagles — her favorite animal. Each year, she found joy in watching them return to their nests, lay eggs, and raise their hatchlings, admiring their grace and resilience.
She is survived by her loving son, Matthew Place, and his wife, Gina, along with their furry family members — Janice’s cherished “grand-kitties” Tiki, Marmalade, Simba, and Elvira. She is also survived by her half-brother, Allen Fausey. Janice was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Richard Curtis Place, with whom she shared many wonderful years of love and companionship.
Janice’s family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude and special recognition to the care team at AdventHealth Hospice in Altamonte Springs, whose compassion, professionalism, and kindness were nothing short of extraordinary. Their support brought great comfort to both Janice and her family during her final days.
A special acknowledgment is also extended to her first cousin in-laws, Joseph and Virginia Hagan of Sanford, Florida, for being loving and supportive “Out-Laws” for more than 40 years. Janice deeply valued their close relationship and the many wonderful conversations, laughter, and support they shared throughout the years.
Those who knew Janice will remember her for her generous heart, gentle wisdom, and unwavering kindness. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and compassion that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know her.
