Jeana Cherish Massimino, 68, passed away in Orlando, Florida, on August 14, 2026, from cancer-related complications.
Born on June 5, 1958, in Flushing, Queens, to the late Elliot and Joan Sobolow, Jeana was a loving daughter, mother, partner, and friend. She is survived by her brother, Gary Sobolow; her sons, Michael Beneventano and Cory Massimino; and her daughters-in-law, Stephanie Fritzshall and Kelly Kidwell.
Jeana worked for many years in the wedding dress business in Manhattan, first for her father and then on her own, and spent her later years as a keen entrepreneur. She was a social butterfly and fiercely loyal, making friends wherever she went. She found purpose in giving, from taking care of retirees to volunteering at her local theater. She enjoyed dog sitting, perusing yard sales and art festivals, and having dinner with her senior group. Her eyes always lit up at a good musical, especially those starring Audrey Hepburn.
Jeana was a strong-willed survivor, beating cancer eight times, but she never let it harden her spirit. She adored animals and cared for so many throughout her life, and always kept Wonton and Pepe in her heart. She loved her parents dearly and told many stories about them, like how they would go into the city together to sell jewelry at the flea market while her father brought his TV to watch baseball. Her greatest pride was her two children, whom she raised with compassion and unwavering support.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, August 30, at 2:00 p.m. at the Newcomer South Seminole Chapel in Longwood, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Pug Rescue of Florida & Georgia.
Jeana will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by everyone who knew her.
