It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Jill Ritchie, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who peacefully entered into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on the morning of April 7, 2025, after a courageous two-year battle with multiple myeloma.
Jill’s life was a testament to love, generosity, and devotion to family. Her kindness and unwavering commitment to those she loved touched countless lives.
A month before her passing, Jill made the brave decision to discontinue treatment and enter hospice care at home. Though these treatments extended her life, she often remarked on their challenges with characteristic candor, humor, and often disdain. Her family takes comfort in knowing she is now free from pain and at peace.
Born in Oakland Park, FL in 1937 to one of the pioneering families of the area, she was the younger of 2 children born to Roy and Iris Chadwick. She married shortly after graduating from Ft. Lauderdale High School in 1955, settling in Oakland Park. In 1968 she moved to Lauderdale Lakes, FL and later Sunrise, FL, where she worked for the Broward County Clerk of Court for 30+ years. After the death of her first husband and retiring, she returned to Oakland Park and remained there after the death of her second husband in 2011, and until the death of her older sister in 2016.
After moving to Central Florida, Jill treasured every moment spent with family. She delighted in being close so that her great-grandchildren “could grow up knowing their Grandma Jill.” Her adventurous spirit was evident in her love for outings - whether a trip, a trolley ride, family gatherings, or enjoying a slightly dirty martini - Jill’s enthusiasm for life was truly infectious." She loved music and was an excellent singer - spending many years in her church choir before moving to Winter Springs.
After relocating Jill found a spiritual home at Willow Creek Church (PCA). She especially cherished her involvement with the Seniors Approaching Life Together group, affectionately known as 'The Salties,' whose fellowship brought her much joy.
Jill will be remembered for her generosity, warmth, and vibrant spirit. She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
"Jill was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald Henderson, and second husband, William (Bill) Ritchie and sister Darlene Mitchell. She is survived by her loving son Mike (wife Colleen), daughter Lori, son Chris (wife Theresa), as well as her adoring grandchildren Danielle (Kyle) Willis; Kathleen (Nick) Anders; Cheyne (Alana) Henderson; Deanna (Ryan) Towson; Casey; and Jackson Henderson. She also leaves behind eight cherished great-grandchildren and countless friends whose lives were enriched by her presence."
"A celebration of Jill’s life will be held at Willow Creek Church – PCA on Tuesday April 22nd at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Jill’s memory to Willow Creek Church - SALT Fund."
