Jo Ann O’Neal September 15th, 1934 – November 21st, 2025
Jo Ann O’Neal was born on September 15th, 1934, in Fulton Missouri to Morris L Acison and Fern E (David) Acison. She was raised in Fulton and graduated from Fulton High School. She was also a graduate of William Woods College in Fulton.
In August of 1953 Jo Ann became engaged to her future husband, Ralph E O’Neal, also of Fulton Missouri. They married at the First Baptist Church in Columbia Missouri in the late afternoon of July 3rd, 1954. From this union five children were born, Cynthia Faulkner, Richard O’Neal (Margaret), Deborah O’Neal, Susan O’Neal (Roy Yeager), and Drew O’Neal (Heather Stephenson), all living locally in Central Florida.
In 1959 the family moved from Missouri to Waukesha Wisconsin, and in December 1967 the family moved to Winter Park Florida where Jo Ann and her husband lived until their deaths. Jo Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph O’Neal, on July 25th, 2013. She was also preceded in death by her parents, and two infant siblings. She has one living sister, Lola L Von Der Haar, of Arnold Missouri, five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Jo Ann and her husband enjoyed genealogy. They spent many hours together researching their family lines. Her other hobby was gardening. She and her husband kept a garden at their home and at a remote location during the years they lived in Wisconsin which supplied the family with fresh vegetables. After moving to Florida, they focused their gardening efforts on raising tomatoes in the spring and fall.
Jo Ann O’Neal was a homemaker. As her children grew, she had free time to volunteer with Meals on Wheels. She also volunteered at a nursing home in Winter Park for over a decade until she became physically unable to continue and Covid-19 restrictions put an end to her volunteering. She will be missed for the guidance and wisdom she imparted to her children and the care she had for her family.
