Joanne Ruth McCreey Telkamp passed away peacefully at home December 14, 2025 at the age of 96, holding the hands of her children. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and generosity. She was a devoted mother whose life was defined by her care for others, her resilience, and her enduring kindness.
Born in Ohio, after graduating from Business School, she relocated for a job at the Pentagon where she met her husband, Lee Telkamp. As a Navy wife, she traveled for a number of years, finally settling in Central Florida. Joanne was a graduate of Rollins College and retired from Seminole Community College as the Director of Finance. She was a member of the Central Florida Genealogical Society for many years and documented the family history back to the late 1700’s.
Joanne had a warm presence and a steady spirit that made people feel safe and welcome. She gave freely of herself to those she loved, always placing family at the center of her life. Her guidance, compassion, and unwavering support shaped the lives of her children and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
She will be remembered for her gentle wisdom, her sense of responsibility, and the deep love she carried for her family. Joanne’s influence will continue through the lives she touched and the memories she created—moments of care, laughter, and steadfast love that will never fade.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Michael Telkamp and Donald Telkamp. Joanne is survived by her daughters, Christine Buehler and Bonita (Bonnie) Teymouri, sons Patrick Telkamp, William (Bill) Telkamp and Timothy (Tim) Telkamp, and many, many (60+) descendants who will carry her memory forward with gratitude and love. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit remains present in the hearts of those who knew her.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
There will be a local private memorial service in January followed by interment at a later date in Dover, Ohio. She specifically requested that no one wear black. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Comforter.
