In Loving Memory of Spencer

Spencer was born on May 3, 1975, and passed away on July 27, 2026, at the age of 51.

He is survived by his mother, Barbara; his sister, Samantha; his brother-in-law, Todd; his niece, Sydney; and his nephew, Mason. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph, who passed away four years ago.

Spencer lived life with a personality that was impossible to ignore. He was charismatic, funny, and could strike up a conversation with just about anyone. He had a gift for storytelling, bringing every tale to life with animated expressions and impeccable timing, and there was nothing better than hearing him laugh, or laughing along with him.

As a kid, Spencer could usually be found working on his vintage truck, skateboarding with his friends, or fishing for bass at the neighborhood pond. He took his role as a protective big brother seriously, always looking out for his little sister, and he made friends wherever he went.

Music was one of Spencer's greatest loves. Whether it was Johnny Cash, rockabilly, or he was always eager to introduce someone to a song they hadn't heard before. His love of music even inspired him to learn to play the guitar. He also had an endlessly curious mind and was a voracious reader, often sharing memorable quotes from Chuck Palahniuk books or talking about whatever had captured his interest that week.

After graduating from high school, Spencer proudly joined the United States Marine Corps, serving for five years with the 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, known as the "Wolfpack." His service took him from training in California to Okinawa, Japan, and the friendships he built during those years lasted a lifetime. He was deeply proud of having served his country.

After leaving the Marines, Spencer earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Central Florida. Throughout his life he wore many hats, working with animals at the Humane Society, driving trucks, and taking on whatever challenge came next. He was adventurous by nature, even hiking sections of the Appalachian Trail in search of the next experience.

Spencer liked to joke that he was quite the ladies' man, but anyone who knew him also knew the true love of his life was his Australian Shepherd, Marla. They were inseparable companions through many of his early adult years, and the bond they shared was something special.

If you knew Spencer, you knew that his brightest days were often followed by his darkest. His vibrant spirit was matched by profound inner struggles that he fought courageously for many years. Those who loved him witnessed both his resilience and his pain. In the end, the weight of those years took a tremendous toll on his body.

That struggle is not the whole story of Spencer's life. He will be remembered for his contagious laugh, his quick wit, his adventurous spirit, his love of music and books, his loyalty to family and friends, and his ability to make every room feel a little more alive simply by being in it.

We will miss his stories, his humor, his stubbornness, and the light he brought into our lives. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in believing that he has finally found the peace that eluded him for so long.

Rest easy, Spencer. You are finally at peace.
