Listen to Obituary

Kevin Michael Kinney, born in Hialeah, Florida, passed away at 57 years old in Orlando, Florida. He retired in February 2024 from UPS after 37 years and was excited for the next chapter of his life. He even started a powder coating business, which required building a shop and getting all necessary parts installed in order to be “The Powder GOAT”. He enjoyed breathing new life into otherwise worn-down parts and pieces so that they can be used again.

Kevin was a devoted, loyal, hard-working, loving husband, father, grandfather, and son. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for any of us. He spent most of his life trying to make sure we were all taken care of in whatever way he felt we needed…even if we didn’t think it was necessary lol…but we always appreciated it later. He was happiest and angriest when doing projects around the house, large and small—both required multiple trips to the hardware store. The projects did not always go according to plan, which led to lots of frustration. He simply had a passion for projects and the effects they had on those he loved and wanted everything to be just right. He could never stop himself from taking on new projects—he just loved the satisfaction of seeing them finished and admiring them. If he didn’t have any around the house, he would let neighbors know what projects they needed to do, and then of course, he was in the trenches with them. That was his love language!

One of Kevin’s favorite pastimes was watching the Miami Hurricanes and the Miami Dolphins football, which is ironic because the season would always seem over by week 3. Despite this, he would count the weeks until the season begins every year. He loved it so much that he caused Austin and Tyler to join him as Miami Dolphin fans. What followed was many years’ worth of excitement and heated discussions, which will be missed deeply in the household.

He also loved his “Baby Doll” aka Tiffany, her husband Kory, and his grandchildren, Lincoln and Andrew. He went over quite a few times to do projects or wait with their dog, Yoshi, for a repairman while they were all at work/school. There was absolutely nothing he wouldn’t do for Baby Doll! She was always calling and asking questions, and even though he seemed irritated sometimes, he loved her needing him.

He also wanted his mom taken care of, so he found a house for her in our neighborhood, gutted it, and made it like brand new. That way if she had plumbing problems, AC problems, etc., she was right down the street and he could go fix whatever was wrong. And on top of that, he helped her get her finances in order so she wouldn’t need to stress about that either.

He is survived and will be missed by two sets of parents, his wife, his children, Tiffany, Austin, and Tyler, and his grandchildren, Lincoln and Andrew, as well as his half-brother, Matt, his stepsister, Dawn, and a multitude of in-laws, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

His Celebration of Life will be held at Aloma Church on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at 2:00pm with a reception immediately following. He always wore Hawaiian shirts or Hawaiian style print, Hawaiian prints are encouraged but not required — just be comfortable, he would’ve wanted that.

In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks to consider making a donation to the American Diabetes Association.
