Kirk Alan Reemsnyder passed away at the age of 33 on March 5, 2026. He is survived by his parents Mark and Cindy Reemsnyder and his sister Alana, and many uncles, aunts and cousins. He resided with his parents and his Aunt Vickie. He has also had numerous caregivers over the years that we are eternally grateful to for their impact on his life.

Kirk was prematurely born on August 22, 1992, and at two days old suffered a near SIDS episode, which left him disabled with Spastic Quad Athetoid Cerebral Palsy. Kirk was baptized, confirmed and received his First Communion at St. Peter’s and Paul’s Catholic church where he continued to attend with his parents. Though he was wheelchair bound and non-verbal he was involved in a lot of activities throughout his life and touched the lives of many.

As a young child he attended the Easter Seals Early Intervention Center where he began therapies in Occupational, Speech, and Physical Therapies, which continued throughout his life. Later on he attended clinics at Shriner’s Hospital in Tampa and began behavioral therapy.

He started school at Deerwood Elementary and later attended charter schools, working in a home school program from N.A.C.D. ( National Association of Child Development) that provided exercises to enhance his brain and body. The program was administered by his parents, caregivers and for a time, education students from the University of Central Florida, continuing throughout his life. He earned a High School diploma from a charter school and then after a brief time at a workshop found the Adult Day Training program at CECO (Conductive Education Center of Orlando), which works with children and adults with motor disabilities.

Kirk loved getting dressed up and going to the regular proms sponsored by various charitable groups. He also enjoyed dressing up in costume and performing in group plays and musicals. He acted for several years with “Shakespeare with Heart” at Orlando Shakes, and dancing with the “Chance 2 Dance” organization, of which he was a source of inspiration for its founding. He participated in movies made at CECO where he used his assistive eye gazing speech device to speak his lines. He loved all types of music, going to dances, and listening to or telling jokes. One of the sure ways to guarantee a smile from him was mentioning Schroeder from Peanuts or speaking to him in an Elvis voice. He also enjoyed theme parks such as Universal and attending their concerts. Live theater was especially enjoying when it involved music.

For over 20 years Kirk played baseball with the Central Florida Miracle League and recently helped with many of the fund raisers to refurbish the field with a new surface. The new field was christened on January 31st of 2026 and he participated in the opening game. Kirk also enjoyed going to camp and was a regular at Easter Seals’ Camp Challenge in Sanford, where he would often go for weekend and week-long trips. He enjoyed the summer activities and being in the pool. About 4 years ago Kirk found something else that he truly enjoyed. He started surfing with the Oceans of Hope Foundation and a day of surfing would be the highlight of his summer activities.

Above all else Kirk loved Christmas and would listen to Christmas music 365 days a year if he could, along with certain Christmas movies and shows such as “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” It was always hard to keep a straight face at Christmas Eve service because Kirk would begin grinning ear-to-ear during the gospel, anticipating the final statement by Linus; “And that’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.”

Everyone who met him was impacted by that beautiful smile and his wonderful heart, and he will be missed by all. We thank everyone who participated in his life and are truly thankful for each moment God gifted us through him.

And that’s what his life was all about.
