In Loving Memory of Lawrence (Larry) Wheeler
Sunrise: January 4, 1943 – Sunset: July 6, 2025
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Lawrence Arthur. Wheeler who departed this life peacefully on July 6, 2025, at the age of 82.
Born in Melrose, Chicago, Larry was a man of discipline, humility, and quiet strength. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for over two decades, embodying the values of honor, courage, and commitment. After retiring from the Navy in 1989, he continued his life of service in a different form — becoming a professional driver, a job he approached with the same dedication and reliability that defined his military years.
To those who knew him, Larry was more than just a veteran or a hardworking man — he was a deeply caring soul who led by example. He believed in treating others with respect, speaking truthfully, and showing up for the people he loved. Whether offering a ride, a laugh, or a helping hand, he did so with no expectation of praise.
He is survived by Elena – spouse, children (Brandon, Jennifer, Louie, Laurence and Lea, 12 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren, who will carry forward his legacy of love, strength, and simple grace. His presence was a steady anchor in our lives, and his absence is felt deeply by all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held on July 12th, 2025 10AM to 3PM, at Newcomer 895 South Goldenrod Rd., Orlando FL 32822, to honor and celebrate his life. Flowers can be sent here
Though he may be gone from our sight, he remains forever in our hearts — a sailor, a father, a grandfather, a quiet hero.
