In Loving Memory of Leslie Hugh Outland July 27, 1950 - May 6, 2025

Leslie Hugh Outland, known to many as Hugh, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6th at 11:38am. Born in Murray, Kentucky, and raised in the Detroit, Michigan metro area, Hugh’s life took him across the country, with chapters in Arizona, Missouri, New Mexico, Tennessee, and Texas. His last and latest adventure was in Central Florida.

Hugh was deeply complicated, full of contradictions, stories, and spirit. In his younger years, he was the life of the party, someone who could fill a room with laughter and energy. His presence left a mark wherever he went, and, like many, his story was shaped by light and shadow.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Kristie Ann Outland (March 19, 1974 – November 6, 1974), whose memory remained close to his heart.

His two children survive him:

Dr. Meg Young (Chass) of Daytona Beach, FL, and Dr. Marshall Outland (Brandi) of Orlando, FL.

He was the grandfather to five cherished grandchildren:

Jalen (San Diego), Jada (New York City), Symphony (Port Orange, FL), Sydney (Bowling Green, KY), and Sebastian (Daytona Beach, FL).

He also leaves beloved great-grandchildren, who will grow up hearing stories of the energy, complexity, and spirit of the man who came before them.

Though his path was not always easy, those who knew him will remember his humor, his boldness, and the legacy he leaves through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
