In Loving Memory of Linda Sue Mendenhall
April 21, 1941 – June 20, 2025
On Friday, June 20, 2025, at 6:57 PM, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend Linda Sue Mendenhall passed away peacefully. She was 84 years old.
Linda was born on April 21, 1941, in Pulaski, Tennessee. On May 2, 1958, she married the love of her life, Bobby Mendenhall, in Detroit, Michigan. Together they raised two children, Robin Gail and Randall Lee, creating a legacy of love and family.
Linda is survived by her daughter Robin Houde and Robin’s fiancé, Wayne McDaniel; her granddaughters Reannon Gondek and Deserea Begani, and their husbands Robert Gondek and Ryan Begani; and her treasured great-granddaughters Sarah Gondek, Madyson Gondek, Emma Begani, and Ella Begani.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bobby Mendenhall, her parents Mildred Ouida and William Houston Brown, her son Randall Mendenhall, her granddaughter Angel Marie, and her siblings Larry Brown, Bobby Brown, Cathy Gladden, and Terry Brown.
Linda was a stage 4 breast cancer survivor, a testament to her incredible strength and unwavering determination. She endured countless health complications with grace, courage, and a fighting spirit that inspired everyone around her. Her resilience in the face of adversity was nothing short of remarkable, and she faced every challenge with dignity and faith.
Linda lived a full and beautiful life surrounded by the people she loved most. She had an adventurous spirit and a passion for travel, with journeys that took her to Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Alaska, Mexico, Antigua, Saint Martin, the Cayman Islands, Puerto Rico, New England, and many more cherished places. No matter where she went, she always carried her warmth and kindness with her.
She had a gift for making people feel special, often through her love of cooking and baking. Her cakes were legendary and her hospitality unmatched. Linda adored her “girls”—her daughter, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters—and always made sure they knew how proud she was of them. When it came to her “girls” she would always work in a beloved quote that we will always remember, “Love you bunches!” whether it was in Birthday Cards, in person, or when ending a phone conversation.
Faith was at the center of Linda’s life. While attending Church, she found joy in singing in the choir and attending her beloved Sunday school class that she was a part of for over 45 years. Her church family was deeply important to her. More than anything, Linda took great care in passing down her faith to her “girls.” She made sure her daughter, granddaughters, and great-granddaughters knew the love of God and the teachings of the Bible. Whether through conversation, prayer, or quiet example, she taught them the power of grace, kindness, and unwavering belief.
Linda was also a proud member of the American Business Women’s Association and played in a Bunco club for more than 30 years—starting in Indiana and continuing the tradition after moving to Florida.
A woman of delightful routines, she never went a day without her beloved coffee—always with the creamer poured in first—and would often joke, “Don’t talk to me until I’ve had my coffee!”
Linda dedicated many years working at several Hospitals, where she was a Kitchen Supervisor and then proceeded to lovingly care for newborns in the formula room.
She will be remembered for her boundless heart, generous spirit, and the countless lives she touched.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Eastland Baptist Church, located at 9000 Lake Underhill Rd., Orlando, FL 32825. Flowers may be sent directly to the church.
Linda Sue Mendenhall was deeply loved and will be dearly missed. Her legacy lives on in the lives of all who had the honor of knowing her.
