Linda Ann Squeglia, affectionately known to many as "Lily," passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, in Sanford, Florida, at the age of 78. Born on October 7, 1947, in Lowell, Massachusetts, Linda’s life was a vibrant tapestry woven with love, laughter, and unyielding strength.
Linda was the cherished daughter of Augustine and Lydia T. (Silva) Santos and sister to Diana Mangiacotti. She attended Keith Catholic High School in Lowell, where her sharp wit and commanding voice first began to shine. Those who spoke with her once inevitably found themselves captivated by her quick intelligence, humor, and the depth of her love—the makings of a truly unforgettable soul.
A proud and tenacious woman, Linda’s career at the Oviedo Police Department in Florida was marked by her dedication and excellence in administration. She was honored with numerous awards that recognized her outstanding commitment to her work. Beyond her professional achievements, Linda was a lifelong learner who embraced new challenges with courage and curiosity. She took Dale Carnegie courses and Apple computer classes, proving time and again that she was a determined go-getter. Raising her daughter Diana as a single mother was one of her most monumental accomplishments, demonstrating a resilience and fierce love that shaped her family’s future.
Linda’s personality was as radiant as the sunflowers that touched her heart—sunflowers that reminded her of her beloved grandmother who lovingly cultivated them. She delighted in crocheting, baking (especially her legendary whoopie pies), and playing games on her phone. Her remarkable ability to recall the lyrics to nearly every song was a testament to her vibrant, joyful spirit. She had a unique gift for storytelling, often sending humorous tales to Reader's Digest just to share a smile with the world.
Her husband, Robert L. Squeglia, stood by her side throughout their life together, loving every facet of her vibrant, feisty nature. Their partnership was a cornerstone of her life’s happiness. Linda is also survived by her children—Diana Kypriotes, Bobby Squeglia, and Karylann Love, along with her son-in-law Doug—and her grandchildren Victoria DeMariano and her husband David, Chance Williams, Maya Love Mata and her husband Camilo. Her great-grandson Dylan DeMariano carried forward the legacy of her warmth and kindness. The many lifelong friends who crossed Linda’s path — each blessed to witness her brilliance — remain a testament to the lasting relationships she nurtured with love and passion.
After battling Alzheimer's disease for several years, Linda’s gentle spirit finally found peace. Though the disease dimmed her memories, it never diminished the indelible mark she left on the hearts of those who knew her. She was, as many say, the best mom ever—a fiercely loving presence whose voice commanded attention and whose laughter filled rooms with light.
Linda Ann Squeglia’s life is a story of strength, humor, and boundless love. Her memory will continue to bloom like the sunflowers she cherished, forever bright and beautiful in the hearts of her family and friends. Those who were fortunate enough to know her will carry her spirit with them, forever touched by the brilliance and warmth of "Lily."
