Malachi Marcus Barber, born on March 13, 2002, in the Bronx, NY, departed this world unexpectedly on July 22, 2025, in Orlando, FL.
Malachi was a bright soul, characterized by his unique sense of humor and a shy demeanor that quickly transformed into warmth and laughter once he became comfortable in the company of others. He is remembered for his smile, sharp wit, and infectious laughter that brought joy to those around him.
A proud graduate of East River High School, Class of 2020, Malachi pursued further education with a dual enrollment at Orange Technical College, where he completed his Associates' Degree. Recently, he began a career with Allied Security, setting an example of growth and ambition for those who knew him. He cherished his family deeply and was known for emulating his older brother, Malik Barber, a source of pride and inspiration for Malachi.
Malachi had a passion for music, showcasing his talent as a rapper while also maintaining a love for basketball and video games. His competitive spirit was evident as he often found himself passionately yelling at the TV during intense gaming sessions. Malachi's playful nature extended to family vacations, with memorable moments during a cruise to the Bahamas where he humorously insisted he had found "legs" on the ship, bringing laughter to the family.
In recent times, Malachi accepted Jesus Christ as his savior, embracing the grace of God and reflecting on a spiritual journey that brought him peace and fulfillment.
He leaves behind a loving family who will cherish his memory: his mother, Patricia Eubanks; stepfather, Alan Eubanks; brothers, Carl Swygert, Malik Barber, Randi Barber, and Nekia Foster; sisters, Renee Swygert, Chanell Barber, and DeShawn Clayton; paternal grandmother, Julia Barber; many aunts and uncles, several nieces and nephews, numerous cousins, and countless friends.
Malachi was preceded in death by his father, Larry Barber, and maternal grandmother, Ella Gates.
While his time with us was far too short, Malachi’s spirit and laughter will remain in the hearts of those he touched.
Visitation will be held on July 31, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Orlando, located at 895 S. Goldenrod Rd, Orlando, FL 32822 with Pastor Dennis Jones, officiating.
