In Loving Memory of Marcia

Marcia was born in the Dominican Republic and came to New York City in the late 1960s, beginning a life filled with love, compassion, family, and service to others.

A dedicated nurse, Marcia spent many years caring for others in hospitals throughout New York. She spent the longest part of her nursing career at Lincoln Hospital, where she eventually retired. But retirement could not quiet her natural calling to care for others. Her passion for helping people led her to begin a second career in nursing at a nursing home and rehabilitation center, where she continued to make a difference in the lives of those around her.

In 1972, Marcia married Hugo, and in 1973 they welcomed their daughter, Amy. Marcia also opened her heart and home to Hugo’s second son, Michael, helping to raise him as part of their family.

Marcia was full of life. She had a vibrant spirit and a presence that could light up any gathering. She was often the center of the party, bringing laughter, warmth, and joy wherever she went. She was deeply loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her because of her beautiful spirit, her generosity, and her unmistakable love of life.

But above all else, Marcia’s greatest love was her family. Her children, grandchildren, and especially her great-grandchildren who lovingly called her “G.G.” were the center of her world.

She helped raise all seven of her great-grandchildren and created countless memories that they will carry with them forever. Her grandchildren would stop by every day to receive the special cookies she kept waiting for each of them. These simple moments became treasured traditions and expressions of the immense love she had for her family.

Marcia taught her family some of life’s most important lessons: how to love, how to live fully, and how to treat others without judgment. She showed them through her own life what it meant to care deeply and give generously.

Even when she was in pain, Marcia continued to greet her loved ones with a smile. That smile remained with her until the very end—a final reflection of the strength, love, and warmth that defined her life.

Our hearts are broken by her passing, and she will be deeply missed by everyone who loved her. Yet, through our grief, we find comfort in knowing that Marcia is now at peace with God, free from pain, and reunited with the loved ones who went before her.

Her life touched countless hearts, and her love will continue through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, friends, and all those whose lives she made brighter.

She may no longer be with us in person, but the love she gave us will remain with us forever.

Rest peacefully, G.G. You will always be loved, always remembered, and forever in our hearts.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Tulio Nunez and Martina Aquino.

She is survived by her daughter, Amy Jasmine Sierra, grandchildren, Alex Diaz, Diana Diaz and Tatyana Sierra, great-grandchildren, Ayden Cruz, Ethan Cruz, Alexandra Diaz, Jaevian Garcia, Christian Diaz, Xavier Garcia and Alaina Diaz.

Visitation is Sunday, August 23, 2026 from 12:00 pm to 2:30 pm with funeral service starting at 2:30 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (East Orlando), 895 S. Goldenrod Road, Orlando, Florida 32822.
