In Loving Memory of Margarette Ann Shock

Margarette Ann Shock was born on September 15, 1942 in Calhoun, GA to Mary Virginia Williams and John Byron Holland II and lived there until her early twenties. She was raised by her grandparents “Vada” Margarett Le Vada Bowen and “Willie” William Roy Williams. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures by curling up with a good book and tackling her crossword puzzles.

On March 3, 1962 she married her first husband, Earl Wayne Thomas and had three children. They moved to Saint Louis Missouri for a short time and finally settled in Orlando, Florida in 1965, where she spent the remainder of her life, and on May 22, 1977 married her late husband of 34 years, George L. Shock Sr.

It is with deep love and sorrow that we announce the passing of Margarette Ann Shock, age 83, who left this world on February 21, 2026. We take comfort in knowing she is at peace and reunited with loved ones who went before her. She was preceded in death by her husband, George L. Shock Sr., her son, Earl Wayne Thomas II, her daughter, Abigail Rebecca Thomas, and her grandson, “Chris” Stephen Christopher Thomas.

She is survived by her daughter: Angela R. Poplin (Mark) and grandchildren: Malia E. Poplin and Liam M. Poplin and by her sister: Bettye Sue Gilbert. As well as her nephews: Michael C. Gilbert (Sheri) and Larry W. Gilbert (Sandy), grandnieces: Heather Renae Weldon (Terry) and Mackenzie Gilbert, grandnephews: Mathew Gilbert (Kira), Hunter Gilbert, and Christian Michael Adamsen Hermann, great-grandnieces: Chloe Bryant (Griff) and Brynlee Weldon, and her half-brothers: John B.
