Listen to Obituary

Marguerite “Rita” Hogan Creech, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on April 19, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness.

Born in Jackson, Mississippi, on May 11, 1953, Rita was the youngest of three children. She graduated from Jackson Preparatory School and went on to attend Mississippi State University and Belhaven College, where she earned her degree in Christian Education. It was at Belhaven College that she met the love of her life, Joseph Creech, and they married in 1975.

Joe and Rita spent eight years with Mission to the World in Mexico as missionaries before moving to Orlando, Florida, in 1986, where she spent the rest of her life raising and loving her 4 children, enjoying friends, and serving her Orangewood Church community. She was known for her ability to listen well and for forming deep and meaningful friendships. She had a love for exploring the world and serving mission partners in far corners of the earth, including Mexico, Greece, Turkey, and Israel. Nothing gave her more energy than traveling to a new place and embracing all it had to offer.

Rita (known as Lolli) loved her family, especially her grandchildren, with her whole heart, and each of them considers it a blessing to have been loved by her.

Rita was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah Aldridge Hogan; her father, Alex Ames Hogan; and her stepmom, Virginia Cavett Hogan. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Creech; her children, Joseph Creech (Seydi), Sarah Jane Beggs (Jeremy), David Creech, and Jonathan Creech (Tanya); her beloved grandchildren, Isabella Creech, Mia Creech, Jace Beggs, Rita Beggs, Owen Creech, Ames Creech, and Hogan Creech; her brother, Ames Hogan (Carla); and her sister, Sally Carter (Alan).

A Memorial Celebration will be held on May 2nd at 4:00 p.m. at Orangewood Church, 1300 W Maitland Blvd, Maitland, FL 32751. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the missions ministries of Orangewood Church.
