Maria Josefa Rivas

Maria Josefa Rivas, born in Santiago, Dominican Republic, passed away on September 17, 2026, in Orlando, Florida.

Maria will be remembered with deep love by her family and all who knew her. She is survived by her devoted husband, Hector Rivas; her daughter, Jenny Rivas; and her son, Oscar Mejia. Her love also lives on in her grandchildren, Audrey, Owen, Skyann, Orion, Ethan and, Orlan. She is also survived by her daughters-in-law, April Adams Mejia and Hypatia Rivas; her brother, Camilo Rivas; and her sisters, Maria Rivas and Rosa Pena Rivas.

She was preceded in death by her father, Camilo Rivas; her mother, Amelia Urena; and her son, David Rivas. Their memories remained a lasting part of her life, and she now rests reunited with them.

Family and friends will gather to honor Maria’s life on September 25, 2026, at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Orlando, 895 S Goldenrod Rd, Orlando, Florida 32822. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 12:30 p.m. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Cemetery, 2400 Harrell Road, Orlando, Florida 32817.

Maria Josefa Rivas leaves behind a family who will carry her memory forward with love. May her life be remembered with tenderness, and may all who loved her find comfort in the bond they shared with her.
