Mark Dimmitt Boardman, 78, of Winter Park, FL passed away after a long battle with cancer on June 18, 2025, at home with family and friends. He was born on December 29, 1946, to William and Marjorie (Dimmitt) Boardman in Moline, IL.
Mark worked as a Public Insurance Adjuster of personal property for over 40 years represented by the Florida Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (FAPIA). He was instrumental in assisting with the writing of the Florida Public Adjuster Codes of Ethics and Conduct and suggested that public adjusters should have mandatory Continuing Education. In addition, he conceived the Public Adjuster Apprentice Program and Political Action Committees. His firm fought to overcome the 48-hour moratorium on public adjuster solicitation, which was eventually won in the Florida Supreme Court.
He was an avid Florida Gator fan, without attending UF. Since 1970, he has only missed approximately 30 football games, home and away. His game day home in Gainesville is a shrine to the Gators and enjoyed by many during football season. Every day, he wore a different Gator shirt. He always said “by the Grace of God” I am a Gator!!
On March 24, 2018, he “at last” married Karen Trachsel Boardman, even though they had been together since 1994. He treated her daughters, Hilary and Haley as his own. He was previously married and has a son, Matthew Boardman, who is married to Stacy Bellairs Boardman, and they have a son Zachary.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen, son Matthew, daughter-in-law Stacy, and their son Zachary, stepdaughter Hilary Bartels and her husband Robert, along with their three sons and stepdaughter Haley Roberts and her husband Josh, along with their two sons. He is also survived by his brother Reed Boardman and his wife Teri and their son William and his younger brother Hollis Boardman and his wife Mary and their sons Tyler and Kyle.
Memorials are suggested to the Cancer Research Institute and if you donate by June 30, a donor will match your contribution.
