Melanie Dawn Dickson Spadafora
August 10, 1941 – August 19, 2026
Melanie Dawn Dickson Spadafora passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 19, 2026, at the age of 85, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly.
Born on August 10, 1941, in Ithaca, New York, Melanie lived a life marked by deep faith, steadfast love, and a heartfelt desire to serve others. At her side in her final moments was Raymond T. Spadafora, her beloved husband of 65 years, along with their children, Kimberly, Thomas, Stephen, David, and Lisa. Melanie was preceded in death by their eldest daughter, Theresa, whose memory remained forever precious to her.
Family was one of Melanie’s greatest joys. She treasured the life she and Raymond built together over more than six decades of marriage and loved her children with a devoted and enduring heart. Her home, her friendships, and her relationships with others were shaped by the warmth, hospitality, and faith that were at the center of her life.
Above all, Melanie’s life was devoted to Jesus Christ. Her greatest desire was for others to know Him personally and to experience the hope, grace, and transforming love of the Gospel. She never regarded her faith as something to be kept private. She shared her personal testimony openly and faithfully, trusting that God could use the story of her own life to draw others closer to Him.
Melanie had a particular heart for ministering to women. Throughout her lifetime, she led and participated in Bible studies, encouraged women in their faith, and shared the Gospel through her work with Stonecroft Ministries and through the many local churches in which she was actively involved. She found great purpose in opening the Scriptures with others, praying with them, and helping women discover a deeper and more personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Her ministry was not simply something Melanie did; it was an expression of who she was. Whether speaking before a group, gathering around a Bible with a few women, encouraging a friend, or sharing her testimony one-on-one, she sought to make Christ known. The many lives touched by her faith and witness are an enduring part of her legacy.
Those who loved Melanie grieve her absence while rejoicing in the faith that sustained her throughout her life—the assurance that death is not the end and that she is now at home with the Savior she loved and served so faithfully.
In addition to her beloved immediate family, consisting of 17 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, Melanie also leaves behind an extended family, friends, fellow believers, and countless women whose lives were touched through her friendship, teaching, encouragement, prayers, and testimony.
Her family will remember Melanie for many things, but perhaps her greatest legacy is the simple purpose around which she built her life: to know Jesus Christ, to love Him, and to help others know Him too.
Her earthly ministry is complete, but the seeds of faith she planted continue to bear fruit in the lives of those she loved and served.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”— 2 Timothy 4:7
