Michael Charles Amato, Sr.

Michael Charles Amato, Sr. of Kenner, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 6, 1936, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Michael lived a life marked by hard work, service, and devotion to his family. A proud United States Marine Corps veteran, he carried the values of honor, discipline, and integrity throughout his life.

Michael was a skilled carpenter and electrician and the owner of a janitorial / maintenance business. Known for his craftsmanship, strong work ethic, and willingness to help others, he earned the respect of both his customers and community.

Above all, Michael Sr. was devoted to his family. He is survived by his children, Debbie Pfister (Terry), Michael C. Amato Jr. (Michelle) , Mark A. Amato, and Michelle A. Olinger (Scott); his grandchildren, Brooke Bickham (Steven), Stephanie Olinger Daigle, Matthew Olinger (Ashleigh), Scott Olinger, Arielle Amato, Katherine Amato, and Michael C. Amato III; and his great-grandchildren, Layla Lynn Olinger and Kaiser Lee Olinger. His dearest cousin and lifetime buddy and partner in crime, Ronald Marks. His nephew, Dominic Amato and several great nieces and nephews. Many extended family, friends and neighbors. 

Michael Sr. was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda M. Amato, with whom he shared nearly 61 years of marriage; his daughter, Marsha Amato; his brother, Frank S. Amato; and his parents, Frank Amato and Dorothy Marks Amato.

Michael Sr. will be remembered for his strength, generosity, craftsmanship, and deep love for his family and country. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched and the family he cherished.
