Obituary of Nilda Iris Arroyo

Nilda Iris Arroyo, age 66, of Orlando, Florida, entered into eternal rest on June 14, 2026, after a courageous and lifelong battle with lupus. Surrounded by the love of her family and strengthened by her unwavering faith in God, she was called home to the Lord following four months of hospitalization.

Nilda was born on May 10, 1960, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. As a young girl, she moved with her family to Brooklyn, New York, where she spent much of her childhood before eventually returning to Puerto Rico. More than twenty-five years ago, she made Orlando, Florida her home, where she built a life filled with faith, family, friendship, and service alongside her husband and lifelong companion.

She is survived by her loving husband, Felix Burgos; her beloved children, Rafael and Sabrina Salort; her cherished grandchildren: Keven, Jeslyn, Krystal, Jacob, Allison, Tatiana, Mathew, Juliet, and Eli; her brothers and sisters; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Nilda's life was a testament to determination, perseverance, and hard work. Although she faced many challenges and did not complete high school in her youth, she never allowed obstacles to define her future. Through dedication and perseverance, she earned her GED and later became a licensed nail technician. She went on to build a successful business and share her knowledge as a nail educator, helping others develop their own skills and careers. Before achieving these accomplishments, she worked a variety of jobs to provide for her family, always placing the needs of her loved ones before her own.

While her family may not have had many material possessions, Nilda filled their home with something far more valuable: love. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her children and taught them through her example the values of resilience, sacrifice, compassion, and faith.

In Orlando, Nilda became known not only for her warm heart but also for her delicious homemade cakes and coquitos, which she joyfully shared with family, friends, and neighbors. She was deeply committed to her community and served for many years as President of her homeowners association, working tirelessly to improve the neighborhood she loved.

In recent years, Nilda discovered a passion for shooting sports and volunteered as a range safety officer at her local shooting club. Whether serving her community, helping others, or pursuing new interests, she approached every endeavor with enthusiasm, dedication, and excellence.

Above all else, Nilda was a woman of profound faith. She maintained a deep and personal relationship with God and faithfully attended Mass at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Orlando. Throughout more than forty years of living with lupus, she faced every challenge with remarkable strength, courage, and grace. A dedicated supporter of the Lupus Foundation, she took pride in helping raise awareness and advocate for others affected by the disease. Despite countless hospital stays and health struggles, she continued to inspire those around her with her resilience, optimism, and unwavering spirit.

Nilda will be remembered as a loving wife, devoted mother, faithful servant of God, cherished friend, and remarkable woman. Her strength, kindness, generosity, and determination touched countless lives. She gave her heart to everything she did and left a lasting impact on everyone blessed to know her.

Though her physical presence is gone, her legacy of faith, perseverance, service, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and community.
