Norma Jean Aden

August 23, 1934 — March 8, 2025

Norma Aden  –  Aug 23, 1934 to Mar 8, 2025

Norma, God bless her, was devoted to raising here 3 children, 4 grand children and later her 4 great grand kids. She loved them and nothing was more important than making sure they were loved with wisdom and a happy home. And she did a marvelous job of keeping up 10 spotless homes over this span.

Norma was born in St. Louis, raised thru high school there and attended Cottey College in Nevada MO, fundamentally a Methodist school supported by PEO, a Philanthropic Educational Organization, where she and her mother were life time members, participating in there activities that she always enjoyed. After Cottey, she moved to Orlando where her parents had semi-retired.

She was a secretary for the American Box Company, and stayed at a ladies dorm. It was here that she met her husband, Lt. Alan Aden, on a blind date leading to their marriage Aug 24, 1957 at the Orlando Air Force Base (AFB) Chapel. Alan left the service in Dec 1957 and they were returning to his job with N. American in Los Angeles CA which was interrupted with her suggestion that he interview “that company with all the big buildings” which had a telegram waiting for him when passing thru his home at Gothenburg NE.

That was 20 years with McDonnell Aircraft in St. Louis that spent 3 and 4 year tours on the Mojave desert at Edwards AFB and Lancaster CA. There she enjoyed the engineering family relationships and traveling about California, Mexico and Nevada, spending 2 vacations in Las Vegas seeing a number of popular entertainers. On her second trip to CA she lived in her favorite home, the one with desert on two sides.

Debbie was born in St. Louis, then Julie in Lancaster. Alan Jr. followed back in St. Louis where they settled down for 10 years. It was there that she made sure the kids had a good education and the girls excelled in dancing. Although a Methodist where her older brother became a Minister in MN, she never interfered with her husbands Catholic relations for the children although she remained very religious.

From McDonnell they chose Orlando where she cared for the grand children but found time to help with Alan’s startup printing business, then she really enjoyed working with his flower distribution but was later left to caring for her mother. While the grand kids were well educated and on their own, she took pride in the youngest as he was raised in the household and became a respected employee. She always took pride that each of the grand children were very successful.

All family, relatives and friends always enjoyed and looked forward to here cooking, especially cakes where she was quite talented and participated in competition. In their retirement, she was happy at home keeping track of and appreciating all of the children, grand children and great grand kids activities. Here she slowly reclined to the bedside ending up with a fall that hospitalized her, sending her to rehab and in time death, probably part of her nature to not interfere with others. Thanks and God Bless Her, we are sure she will be Happy in this new life.
