Paul H. Cheney, a distinguished professor at the University of Central Florida, passed away on August 18, 2025, in Altamonte Springs. Born on November 6, 1945, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Paul’s educational journey was marked by remarkable achievements. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy from The University of Minnesota and a Master's Degree in Public Administration from the State University of New York, accomplishments he took great pride in throughout his life.
In addition to his academic contributions, Paul honorably served in the US Army Reserves, reflecting his dedication to both his country and his community. His professional career enriched the lives of many students, but it was his warm and generous personality that left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Paul cherished his family and held special memories close to his heart, including the day he married his beloved wife, Angela Balistreri, in the enchanting surroundings of Key West. His loving nature extended not only to his family but also to the animals he adored, particularly cats. His kindness and compassion were evident in every facet of his life, influencing friends and loved ones alike.
Surviving Paul are his devoted wife Angela, his daughter Kathryn Mark, grandsons Matteo and Amadeus, and his sister Rise Nybakke. Together, they carry forward his legacy of kindness, generosity, and a deep love for animals. Paul will be remembered fondly for his spirited discussions about politics and current events, his passion for golf, and the love he shared with family and friends.
