Paul Ward, a dedicated public servant and cherished family man, passed away on July 17, 2025, at the age of 71 in Deltona, Florida. Born on July 26, 1953, Paul devoted much of his life to the protection and service of his community, holding significant roles as a police officer with the Edgewood Police Department and a firefighter for Orange County for an impressive 33 years. His commitment extended beyond general duties, as he was also a valued member of the hazardous materials squad, dedicating his skills and bravery to ensuring safety for countless individuals.
In addition to his remarkable career, Paul’s educational background included a Bachelor’s degree from Seminole State College, which laid the foundation for his future endeavors in public service. His disciplined approach to both work and life earned him the respect of his peers and the trust of those he protected. His leadership influenced fellow firefighters to move forward in their career, mentoring them along the way.
Those closest to Paul knew him for his generous spirit and natural leadership. He had a unique ability to make everyone feel comfortable in his presence, exuding warmth and sincerity. He was not only a protector of his family but also deeply family-oriented, always prioritizing the well-being and happiness of his loved ones.
Paul enjoyed a variety of hobbies that reflected his vibrant personality. He had a passion for Nascar and enjoyed hunting with his brothers, activities that he often shared with family and friends, creating lasting memories.
He leaves behind a loving family that includes his devoted wife, Debra Ward; his sons, Paul Ward Jr. and Matthew Diefenderfer; his grandchildren, Brayden Diefenderfer, Hayden Ward, and Violet Ward; and his siblings, Patricia Coleman, Randy Coleman, and Allen Coleman.
A graveside service to honor Paul’s life will take place on August 7, 2025, at Highland Memory Gardens in Apopka, Florida, beginning at 10:00 AM.
Paul Ward's legacy is one of courage, dedication, and unconditional love. He will be profoundly missed by all who knew him and whose lives he touched.
