Raul E. Mercado, lovingly known as “Tito,” passed away surrounded by the love of his family. Born on January 5, 1941, in Puerto Rico, Raul carried his island’s warmth, music, and spirit with him throughout his life.
Raul married the love of his life, Edma Mercado, and together they built a beautiful family. In 1976, they courageously began a new chapter in the United States, settling in Union City, New Jersey, where they raised their daughters Ivette, Annette, and Sylvette. Ten years later, they welcomed their son, Raul A. Mercado, completing their family.
Known affectionately as Tito, Raul had a magnetic presence and a creative soul. He possessed many talents, especially in photography and entertainment, capturing life’s moments with an artist’s eye. But above all, music was his second language—a constant source of joy, expression, and connection for him and everyone around him.
Raul is survived by his devoted wife Edma, his children Ivette Rubio, Annette Fleischhauer, Sylvette Santiago, and Raul Mercado, as well as his 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, all of whom adored him and carry his legacy in their hearts.
Raul will be remembered for his warmth, his creativity, his humor, and the music he brought into the world. His spirit lives on in the family he loved so deeply.
