Raymond Miner Wells, 86, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2026.

Raymond was born on February 5, 1940, in Bloomington, Illinois, to Chester J. Wells and Dorothy (Seal) Wells. He attended Illinois State University, where he earned two master's degrees—one in German and the other in Spanish. Following his graduation, he began his career as a high school Spanish teacher.

Raymond had a lifelong passion for travel, with a special love for Spain and its culture. In his early years, he began collecting postcards, an interest that evolved into a remarkable lifelong study of C.U. Williams and his photography documenting the history of Bloomington, Illinois. His dedication to preserving and appreciating local history reflected his intellectual curiosity and love of learning. In recognition of his passion for local history, a portion of his collection and research will be donated to the McLean County Historical Society in his memory.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Chester J. and Dorothy (Seal) Wells; his beloved wife, Elinor (White) Wells; and his granddaughter, Sadie Wells.

He is survived by his brother, Ronald C. Wells and his wife, Ilene (Allison); his son, Ward A. Wells and his wife, Cherilyn (Johnson); and his great-granddaughter, Charlotte, age 14, along with other family members and friends who will cherish his memory.

Private services will be held by the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Raymond's memory to LoveyLoaves Rescue & Sanctuary, honoring his love of animals and helping provide care for specially-abled dogs in need.

Arrangements by Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (East Orlando Chapel).
