Robert Donald Brady, 93, of Orlando, Florida 32828, passed away on Friday, 8 November 2025 surrounded by family members.
Robert was born on 24 April 1932 in Yonkers, New York and was the son of the late Mary and Henry Brady.
Robert lived most of his life in New York and graduated from Gorton High School in 1950. After High School, he joined the United States Navy on 16 February 1951 and shipped out to San Diego to serve on the USS Rupertus DD 851, as an Electrician, during the Korean War. After 4 years in the Navy, Robert returned to Yonkers, New York to complete his bachelor’s degree from Manhattan College in 1959 and while working full time, earned his Law Degree at night from Saint John’s University in 1963. Robert, together with William Corcoran, established the Corcoran and Brady Law Office in New York City where he faithfully served and represented New York Operating Engineers Labor Union. He moved his private law practice to Hastings on Hudson, New York where he eventually retired after 63 years of practicing law.
Robert met the love of his life Elizabeth Brady in 1978 in New York City, and they married on 16 June 1979 in Cresskill, New Jersey. That same year, they moved to Hastings on Hudson, New York where they would live happily together for over 43 years. On 31 May 2022, they packed up their belongings and their dog Plume, and moved to Orlando, Florida to be closer to family.
Robert was an active member of the Hastings on Hudson community and served in leadership positions for the Lion’s Club and Veterans of Foreign Affairs. As a devout catholic, he was an active member of the Saint Matthew Roman Catholic Church and established Saint Matthews’ first-ever Midnight Homeless Run program that brought food and clothing on the weekends, to thousands of homeless people in New York City. He also served as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, and Choir member while at Saint Matthews. He was an avid runner and a member of the New York Road Runners Club, participating in four marathons and known for his “Carb Party” held before the New York City Marathon each November. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal (2), United Nations Service Medal, China Service Medal, and the Defense Service Medal.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth W. Walsh of New York City, brother Terrence H. Brady of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, daughter Tammi S. Palmer of Middletown, NY., and daughter-in-law Kristi M. Brecht of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Robert is survived by his children, John (Nhu-Anne), Tena (Tom), and Christopher, grandchildren, Nicholas, Robert, Thomas, Timothy, and Andrew and two great-grandchildren, Delaney and Thomas.
The memorial service is scheduled for 19 November 2025, 6:00–8:00 pm, at Newcomer Funeral Orlando Chapel, 895 South Goldenrod Rd, Orlando, FL 32822.
A mass and burial service is scheduled for 20 November at 12:00 pm at San Pedro Chapel, Queen of Angels Cemetery in Winter Park, Florida. Address is 1901 Queen of the Angels Drive, Winter Park, FL 32792.
