Robert D. Danner

Bob Danner, passed away at the age of 93, on December 12, 2024

 Bob was born in Boone, North Carolina, and was one of 13 children. His childhood home still stands today and is the special place where the Danner Family Reunion is held annually. Bob was a man of honesty and integrity, and anyone who knew him understood just how much his family meant to him. He proudly served our country in the United States Army as a ranked Sergeant. Following his duty, he attended Appalachian State University where he received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in education. He held many jobs and titles throughout his life. He served as a volunteer firefighter for Watauga County. He worked at the ASU bookstore and was also a campus security guard for a short time. He was a principal at Cove Creek Elementary School. His time as an educator was completed at Chickasaw Elementary, when he retired from teaching. He was also a business owner which included the Robo Car Wash and the Mountain Villa Motor Lodge in Boone, as well as RobRoys men's fine clothing store in Greensboro, North Carolina. He was an avid golfer for over 50 years, a dedicated bowler, a lawn mower repair aficionado, and a gifted pool player, among many other talents. 

 Bob is preceded in death by his beautiful wife of 68 years, Nadeen Danner; and daughter, Kelly Baker (Robby). He is survived by his two children; son, Robert (Nancy) Danner; daughter, Kimberly (Gustavo) Astorga; grandchildren, Mark, Rebecca (Michael), Max, Ian (Haley), Caroline (Tate), and Wil; and by his great-grandchildren, Robert James, Michael Elias, Palmer Banks, and Molly Belle. He will be missed dearly by his extended family and the many friends he made over the course of his life.

 Funeral services for Robert Danner will be held at 11:00 am with visitation beforehand at 10:00 am on Friday, December 20, 2024, in the Newcomer Family Funeral Home chapel, Winter Park with his son-in-law, Gustavo Astorga officiating, Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Orlando.
