With profound sadness, we share the unexpected passing of Robert “Rob” Polson, on March 31, 2025. A gifted craftsman, devoted family man, and quietly compassionate friend, Rob lived a life rooted in integrity, shaped by skill, and guided by love.
Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, and raised in Fairfield, Rob attended Holy Family School and Roger Ludlowe High School before continuing his education at Housatonic Community College. He went on to complete the State of Connecticut Apprenticeship Program, earning certification as a Master Automotive Mechanic. His career also included work as a Technical Engineering Assistant at Sikorsky Aircraft, and later, he achieved recognition as a Certified Master Recreational Vehicle Technician in Florida.
Rob had a gift—if something had moving parts, he could fix it. From helicopters, cars and RVs to bicycles and children’s toys, he approached everything mechanical with a quiet confidence and a deep understanding that seemed almost instinctive.
He spent many years as a Master Mechanic at O’Keeffe Cadillac Oldsmobile in Westport, CT, and later brought his steady presence and sharp mind to Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, working as an engineering technician. After moving to Florida, he continued doing what he loved—repairing RVs at Leisure Time RV and eventually traveling the country as a RV technician for Roadtrek Canada. Wherever he worked, Rob earned respect not just for his knowledge, but for his kind nature and calm, steady hands.
But his talents didn’t end there. Rob was also a masterful woodworker, someone who could build anything from the ground up—homes, porches, furniture, cabinetry—all crafted with patience, precision, and a quiet pride in doing it right. His creations, like his character, were built to last.
Rob is survived by his loving wife of over 45 years, Ann; his son, Robert Polson; his daughter, Clare Polson Hopple; and their spouses, Brooke and Matthew, whom he welcomed with open arms into the family. He also leaves behind his cherished older brother, Tom, and sister-in-law, Elaine, , as well as a wide circle of cherished nieces and nephews, his much-loved granddogs, and a chosen family of dear friends and extended relatives—his treasured “framily”—who meant the world to him and who will carry his memory in their hearts always.
Rob will be remembered for the kindness he showed in quiet ways, the steady presence he offered to those around him, and a subtle dry wit that surfaced with perfect timing. He lived with a deep, unwavering commitment to the people he loved. Whether he was lending a hand, offering quiet support, or bringing a worn machine back to life. Rob’s legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the things he built, and the love he left behind.
