Rodney D. Beatty, a beloved educator and devoted family man, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026. Born on November 23, 1962, Rodney's life was marked by dedication, passion, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved and the communities he served. He will be remembered with great respect and admiration for his profound contributions to education, sports, and history.
Rodney graduated from Colonial High School in 1980 as Class President before pursuing higher education with a deep-rooted interest in history. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in History from the University of Central Florida and further advanced his academic journey with a Master’s Degree from Nova Southeastern University. His love for knowledge was not only reflected in his studies but also in his lifelong hobbies, which included visiting historic sites such as Gettysburg, Vicksburg, Valley Forge, and Little Bighorn, which he cherished as windows into the past.
For over three decades, Rodney dedicated his professional life to teaching, inspiring countless students across several schools. He retired from Cypress Creek High School, having left an indelible mark as a passionate teacher of history and a dedicated baseball coach. Among his proudest accomplishments were coaching the 15-year-old Azalea Park All Star Baseball Team to the United States Championship and leading the University High School team to win the District Baseball Tournament. These achievements stand as a testament to his skill, leadership, and the profound impact he had on young athletes.
Rodney’s personality was characterized by friendliness, love, and unwavering support. Known for his warm nature, he made everyone he met feel valued and respected. His love extended beyond people to include his cherished dog Teddy, with whom he shared many moments of joy. Rodney was known to order a larger steak specifically to share with Teddy, a small act that highlighted the kindness and generosity woven into his daily life.
Outside of the classroom and baseball field, Rodney was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams—the Washington Redskins, Atlanta Braves, and Orlando Magic—reflected his enthusiasm for athletics which he followed closely. He also enjoyed reading and playing golf, activities that enriched his leisure time and reflected his thoughtful and engaged spirit.
Rodney lived by the inspiring motto, “Live every day to the fullest for you never know how long you have to live.” This philosophy permeated every aspect of his life, encouraging those around him to embrace each moment with purpose and gratitude.
He is survived by his loving wife, Eileen Tobin, and his mother, Charlotte Beatty, and his brother, Robert Beatty who will continue to cherish his memory. He was preceded in death by his father, Dallas Beatty.
Rodney D. Beatty’s legacy is one of dedication, kindness, and a life well-lived. He has left an enduring imprint on his family, friends, students, and the communities fortunate enough to have known him. His memory will be honored and preserved with the deepest respect and affection.
